Time table 30.06.2017: Memurubu – Gjendesheim

You have chosen a date that does not go boat. The season ends in October, and start again in June! A few weeks at the beginning and end of the season, the boat goes only Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So feel free to try another day.

Discount on return bill

If you book a return ticket the same day as your departure with Gjendebåten, you will receive a discount on the final purchase price: Book all tickets at full cost in the booking, the discount will be automatically deducted when you purchase your tickets in the final checkout.

Ticket prices:
Gjendesheim – Memurubu return trip the same day: adults NOK 260, – (children NOK 130,-)
All other return-tickets with departure on the same day: adults NOK 300, – (children NOK 150,-)

Gjende, ports of call and mountain walks

Gjendesheim

Gjendesheim is the flagship lodge of the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT). It is beautifully located at the foot of Besseggen and the car park at Gjendeosen. The lodge has 185 beds and offers breakfast, lunch and a three-course dinner.

Memurubu

Memurubu is located halfway between Gjendesheim and Gjendebu, with Besseggen on one side and Bukkelægeret on the other. Memurubu has accommodation for up to 150 people, good food and a pleasant atmosphere.

Gjendebu

Gjendebu is at the innermost end of Gjende and is the DNT's oldest lodge. The lodge has 119 beds and is an outstanding starting point for walks further into the Jotunheim mountains and over Bukkelægret to Memurubu.

Besseggen

The Besseggen ridge is Norway's most popular mountain walk and attracts around 50,000 visitors a year. Most people choose to take the boat from Gjendesheim to Memurubu and walk back. The walk normally takes 5 - 7 hours.

Bukkelægret

Bukkelægret is a spectacular walk between Gjendebu and Memurubu. Bukkelægret itself is a steep climb of about 500 metres straight up from Gjendebu. This walk can be done in either direction and normally takes 3 to 5 hours.
